Effective and Professional Makeup
Ever since I became a Beauty Guide with LimeLight by Alcone, my cosmetic stash has grown significantly, not in quantity but in quality. Back in the day, I’ve had my share of drugstore makeup, and I do have a few favorites, but most of the time I found myself gravitating more towards brands such as Bobbi Brown and NARS cosmetics.
My style is and always has been simple and classic. Although, I will admit that I was an active participant in the black-liner-around-the-lip era. I’ve always adored the appearance of natural looking makeup. A few of my favorite looks to emulate were those of the effortlessly talented Sade, the beautiful Whitney Houston (during her brown lipstick phase) and one of
my favorite childhood actresses, Molly Ringwald from her Sixteen Candles days.
As a child, I remember watching my grandmother apply her makeup while at her mahogany wooden vanity set. Her approach to beauty was very modest. After moisturizing with a few drops of the pink Oil of Olay lotion, she then applied a light dust of Coty face powder and blended with a red cosmetic sponge. Lastly, she would lightly dot her lips with Estée Lauder lipstick, smack her lips together and then be on her way. It was so simple, yet very effective.
I normally don’t wear a lot of makeup either. For me it’s a tool used to enhance rather than transform. I’m at a point in my life where it’s imperative to have simplicity in some areas. A brand that won’t make me work too hard for what I’m trying to achieve is perfect and what LimeLight offers. Not only are the products 50% pigmented and easy to apply, the application lasts throughout the day. Less is needed and more money stays in my bank account. I feel as if the company asked what I needed and wanted in a makeup line, then went back to the lab to create it.
Now, I still use other products. My love for cosmetics won’t allow me to use just one brand. I give everyone a chance. For instance, I always rave about Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara. If a thing works, it just works. However, LimeLight is my main squeeze and I have yet to find anything I like better.
